Remodelling of Edwardian House in Hampstead
The house was completely refurbished, with the lower ground floor opened up to create a large open plan living/dining/kitchen space opening onto the garden. The existing staircase was removed completely and replaced with a beautiful ‘classic’ contemporary staircase which created more space on the landings on each level. On the upper ground floor a section of the floor was removed at the back of the house to create a double height void which allows natural light from new windows on the upper ground floor to penetrate into the lower ground floor. Connectivity between the two living levels of the house has been vastly improved by a new curved staircase that connects the lower ground floor with the upper ground floor through the double height void.
